That is more than either Tennessee Tech University or East Tennessee State University's presidents, who make $375,000 and have more similar enrollment figures to the school. Both TTU and ETSU have larger student populations than TSU, even at the school's peak enrollment period.

Probably unsurprising, TSU Tiger head coach Eddie George makes the highest salary. That's not that abnormal at higher education institutions. MTSU head coach Derek Mason makes $925K.

In looking through the salary data, I found that TSU has 1,787 employees, not including student help. Around 6,310 students attend TSU — about 5,000 undergraduate and a little more than 1,000 graduate students. That is according to the school.

On Monday, we will get a better sense of how TSU stands with state funding with the governor's address. The school will meet with the state building commission on Feb. 19 to discuss its finances.

How funding will work for TSU this next school year isn't clear, though interim president Dwayne Tucker said the school has worked on a 5-year plan. I am not sure what all the entails yet.
