Pay attention to what makes time disappear. That’s not random.

Most people don’t lack talent, they lack environments that let their talent surface.

Your network isn’t who you can reach. It’s who’s willing to speak your name when you’re not in the room. Build accordingly.

When someone vouches for you, they’re putting their reputation on the line. That’s not something you can ask for. It’s something you earn over time.

Play the long game. Real trust is built over months and years of consistency, not a single coffee chat.

Treat people the same regardless of their title, status, or leverage. Social capital erodes quickly when people feel “ranked.”

Say good things about people when they’re not in the room. Reputation compounds in private conversations, not public posts.

Follow up when there’s nothing to gain. The strongest relationships are built in the in-between moments.

Be useful before you try to be impressive. Help someone think. Make an introduction. Share context. Do it quietly, without keeping score.

I don’t think social capital is built through “networking.” It’s built by showing up without an immediate agenda. Most people only reach out when they need something. That’s easy to feel.
