Very excited about this new degree program in the Wadsworth Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at @wvustatler #LetsGo #environmental #engineering
For students interested in creating a sustainable environment, the Statler College launched a new degree program to utilize the principles of engineering, soil science, biology and chemistry to develop solutions to environmental problems. Learn more. ➡️ https://t.co/8yMvtBPkx3

I'm thrilled to share that my team's research focused on better understanding how hydraulic conditions affect microbial communities in drinking water distribution systems has been funded through the NSF CAREER program!
Supported by $505,784 from a NSF CAREER award, Statler College researcher Emily Garner is working to make drinking water safer by solving the unknowns about microorganisms growing inside pipes that bring drinking water to homes and businesses. ➡️ https://t.co/VvbPHzKAUj

Excited to share our recent paper out in @STOTEN_journal led by PhD candidate Mehedi Hasan Tarek. We leveraged insights from metagenomic analysis of wastewater samples to propose "indicator genes" as monitoring targets for antibiotic resistance

Congratulations Mehedi on receiving a WVU Foundation Distinguished Doctoral Scholarship! Very proud to see the CEE department and our research group represented! @wvustatler
Six West Virginia University graduate students, including Statler College student Makenzie Dolly, received WVU Foundation scholarships that will allow them to focus on research as they work to finish their degrees.

I'm excited to finally share our team's work on this topic. If you are interested in using wastewater‐based surveillance for studying antibiotic resistance, check it out!
Very, very happy to see this get published - only 3 years after the first draft was shared with all the authors! Many rewrites and revisions to better align w/emerging sewage surveillance paradigms. Thank you to everyone who contributed along the way!
