Getting cooked on twitter doesn’t mean you’re wrong btw
Nigerians wanting a better nation while still being tribalist, homophobes, Raging misogynists, wannabe capitalists, and million other horrible things that involve stepping on the necks of marginalized groups that they don’t belong to.

Curated this list for @booko_clock in 2020. I am now realising how homogenous and limited it is. Very few women are represented here and there are no authors from the North, even though I acknowledge that Ekwensi’s stories can pass as Northern. But still, quite limited. 😬

African literature is as important as Western Literature. There shouldn’t even be a hierarchy of importance.

the igbos have planted themselves everywhere in Lagos: they are in our markets, our sea ports, lecturers in university, driving buses, our banks? see how stupid that sounds? this extreme hate for random civilians is counter productive and as an igbo person you should know better.
I’m so scared because Kwara is our backyard o and if we are observant they have planted themselves on every street in Lagos, doing the petty things you won’t think much of, like polishing shoes, sewing clothes, sharpening knife, selling noodles, tea, suya, pushing barrow,

The Rwanda genocide didn’t begin with machetes — it began with dangerous stereotypes that dehumanised an entire group. Nigeria must take note. Yes, there are hundreds of violent criminals who happen to be Fulani, just as there are Muslim extremists. But they represent a tiny
I’m on my way to Ogun Waterside, and I just entered a car from Ijebu-Ode. To my surprise, everyone inside is Fulani, and they look scary to me…….🤦♂️

“Privilege blinds, because it’s in its nature to blind.” Chimamanda.
@AngelOpara8 Bar tribalism, there's hardly anything there that will do anything to improve the everyday life of Nigerians. Just the idea that we have to fix all social vices before demanding a functional government and country is comical.

In Nigeria, over 1,880 schoolchildren have been abducted over the past decade, with girls as primary targets. @A_Salkida takes us through the timeline of these attacks, the human cost, and how the nation has failed to learn from these tragedies. Read: https://t.co/iEJulpkAcP

I'm immensely grateful to everyone who deemed me worthy of this award. Everyone who read "From Across Time" and said, yes, I'll vote for that. Thank you. It means a lot. And thank you to @clarkesworld for publishing this story.

The diocese needs all the material and spiritual support to sustain its ministry amongst these displaced communities. @VaticanIHD @JesuitCzerny @ASmerilli

many of the 1M+ idps in benue state are catholics who once worshipped in rural outstations under makurdi diocese before fleeing their homes a decade ago. now, the diocese is establishing a “new mission” with a chaplain to serve them. the situation is so dire! 1/?

Patricia and her relatives have been trapped in a relentless cycle of displacement, moving from one IDP camp to another in Makurdi.

This is tribalism A lot of these people are also just hustling here. Yes horrible things are happening and it’s people that look like them that are doing it but this tweet is also in bad taste I understand what you’re trying to do but this framing is dangerous and tribalistic
The security men, the guys that own that small kiosk around the corner, the guys that help to fetch water, the shoemakers, the mobile tailors, the scavengers

The lack of character and purpose compromised Nigerian literature. It is why people collect funding in our name and do nothing for the actual industry. For some, the Holy Grail is no longer writing a good book but “knowing a politician.” Sick. I’ll touch on this on Saturday.
