The Golden Triangle Early College High School coordinated a Suicide Prevention Awareness Walk on our Mayhew campus today. The event coincides with September’s designation as National Suicide Prevention Month. Participants included faculty, staff and students.

An orientation session for new faculty took place this morning at The Communiversity. The event was sponsored by our Center for Teaching and Learning under the direction of Scott Baine. EMCC President Dr. Scott Alsobrooks provided an overview of EMCC to the new faculty.

A job fair took place today in the Lyceum Auditorium for Associate Degree Nursing students who graduate in December. Representatives from regional health care industries were available to speak to the students about career opportunities.

Congratulations to Teresa Rogers, left, who has been named the September 2025 recipient of the Raleigh Wood, III, Memorial Employee of the Month award. Rogers, a Cosmetology instructor, is presented a certificate by Dean of Scooba Campus/College Advancement Tony Montgomery.

Associate Degree Nursing II students participated in an a timed simulation exercise today. Working in teams, the students worked their way through a mock maternity ward, addressing issues encountered by a mother and her infant before, during and after childbirth.

Students enrolled in the Health Science program at the Lowndes County School District’s Career & Technical Center toured our Golden Triangle campus today. The students visited classrooms and spoke with instructors, including those in our Division of Nursing and Health Sciences.

Our Adult Education Launch Pad conducted a Smart Start roundtable discussion today at The Communiversity. Our Adult Education’s Smart Start program teaches students essential job skills. The panel included adult education students, educators and industry representatives.

Our Adult Education Department inducted new members into the National Adult Education Honor Society today in a ceremony in the Lyceum Auditorium on our Golden Triangle campus. This was the first honor society induction ceremony for Adult Ed students to take place at EMCC.

Cooking for a Cause kicked off yesterday on our Scooba campus and continued today on our Golden Triangle campus. During the event to raise funds for EMCC’s Campus Care Closet food samples by EMCC and Sodexo chefs were distributed for free and donations accepted.
