The final editor performance numbers for WP 6.5 are in: input processing (e.g. typing) is 5x faster and editor loading is over 2x faster! This is for both the post and site editors.

Just published a new version of Blocknotes! It's a big rewrite: WP queries have been modified to read directly from the filesystem, bypassing the database. Performance should be better. Please join 266 other testers!.

To accomplish this, I created a "light" version of Playground that can run without a service worker and even without an HTTP server! The app no longer needing an HTTP server gives me more confidence in approval for the App Store.

A new build of Blocknotes is available for testing! I fixed issues with notes sometimes not loading from iCloud and problems with folders. I’ve also made many internal changes to address reports of the app not loading at all for some people.

Blocknotes is available for beta testing! 🚧 Even though I already use it for my notes, be careful! Normally, if the app freezes, your notes should be safe in iCloud Drive. This release comes with a new feature: folders!.

Wow, here's a recording of my talk at @ReactEurope. Not as good as I had hoped for! Slides are too dense, generally a bit dry, needs more examples, visuals, time explaining the problem, longer demo. Rewriting it all for for the next presentation! 😊.
