@Ankamagyimi___ @eliavot_ That’s how coaching goes. When it works, you’re a genius, when it doesn’t you have eggs on your face. I agree with him though. Pep could’ve started Trafford for whatever reason but not the manager who hasn’t won in 6 years - you play your best players. That’s just it.

When the time comes and we are winning trophies consistently, I won’t mind certain decisions. However, for a club hungry to end the drought, you don’t take certain liberties. My take on Mikel and the GK issue.

For a club that is chasing its first trophy in 6 years, you play your best players when you are in a final. No matter what final it is. The reasons Arsenal lost go beyond Kepa, but not playing your best players certainly won’t help your chances.

Mikel lost so we mention it. Pep won. Also regarding 2011, no one is saying starting your number 1 is guarantee that you win but you sure have to start your best players in a final. If it’s nothing, then he should have started Noni, Norgaard and Max.
Then you can't make it one-sided and blame Arteta for that. Also in 2011, Wenger started our no.1 keeper Szczesny in the league cup final and we still lost to Birmingham. What will you say about that too?

So "putting your best foot forward in a final" theory isn't a universal rule, it just switches based who wins, This means you wouldn't have said that if Arsenal won. Both managers didn't apply that theory and one still won. My point is it's just a carabao cup it's normal for

In my opinion, both managers were wrong to start their 2nd GKs in a major final. Had he won, no one will mention it, just like no one is mentioning Pep and Trafford. However, the fact that no one is mentioning it doesn’t mean Pep was right. It only means he got away with it.
