Don’t hate this theory. Losing Branch was certainly the last straw for the defense this year
Ultimately, the fatal flaw of the 2025 Lions, IMO, was losing both Branch and LaPorta Losing Pro-Bowl caliber players in the “hybrid” roles on both offense and defense is extremely limiting That takes away the versatility, disguise, and scheme driver for each unit

Advice to Lions personnel for rest of the season and into the offseason: Stop with the getting pissed off at the fans for being unimpressed and skeptical. You have among the highest ticket prices in the NFL, and you're gonna miss the playoffs. They've got a right.

Would they have thrown a flag for murder?
I followed up with an NFL spokesperson to ask what would’ve happened had Metcalf knocked the fan out or even just connected in any meaningful way. I was told that it still wouldn’t change the protocol.
