A week and half ago we asked you for feedback on Copilot and what we could improve in @code. Hundreds of you responded. Here is an update on what we've done since then regarding your feedback...
@svpino Have you tried VS Code again lately? If so and you still feel this way, tell me what we can change. We love feedback and we’re moving quicker than ever before.

Insane PR by the Github Coding Agent to implement a fix I haven't had time to get to. What impressed me: - modular design across multiple files - correctly identified and called the envs ext API - worked end to end (minus one `await` that was a quick fix) https://t.co/SFmJeREYWm

Hear from Erich and Kai on @syntaxfm how open source has always been fundamental to @code - and that extends to AI capabilities as well. The first milestone as the open source AI editor, reached today:
code.visualstudio.com
We are open sourcing the GitHub Copilot Chat extension. It’s the first milestone in making VS Code an open source AI editor.
Have you seen the news? Check out our exclusive interview with Erich Gamma, creator of VS Code, and Kai Maetzel, Copilot Lead to get all of the details! We dove deep into the announcement but also how they feel about VSCode forks and the history of VSCode.

Th new extension supports UV by default! If you have UV installed, it will default to use UV when creating environments and installing packages!
@eleanorjboydpy @pierceboggan should support UV and Ruff by default >O

auth-guy strikes again 🔥
OAuth server for your #MCP server supports device code flow? No problem, it's an option to authenticate 🚀 In tomorrow's insiders we try: * protocol handlers: vscode://.... * loopback server (localhost) * device code flow @code's getting the most robust MCP auth support 🚀

So pumped about this announcement!
Today, we're announcing plans to make VS Code an open source AI editor. We believe AI development should stay true to VS Code's core principles: open, collaborative, and community-driven. Let's build the future of software development together. https://t.co/C3ffio6X88
