Some of these transfer methods are locked behind defeating the Elite Four, so I’ll need to figure that out. I’d be happy to take suggestions of how to circumvent that restriction.
(5/5) So it’ll be as follows: Yellow -> Time Capsule trade -> Crystal Crystal -> Trade Buddy -> Emerald Emerald -> Pal Park -> Platinum Platinum -> Transfer Lab Mini-Game -> White 2 White 2 -> PokéTransporter -> Y Y -> Pokémon Bank -> Ultra Sun

(4/5) I haven’t formally started this challenge yet, so the Vileplume / Bellossom and Scyther / Ariados examples are really just an illustration of the restrictions I’m putting upon myself.

(3/5) I’ll begin with Yellow. With the team I defeat Blue with, I’ll trade them to Crystal, breed that team, and play through the game with the offspring. I can swap out Vileplume for Bellossom via the evolution cause. I can swap Scyther for Ariados because they share a type.

(2/5) Every game I’ll play my previous game’s winning team with two exceptions. 1) I’ll allow myself to swap one Pokémon from the previous team with a new one that shares at least one typing and 2) I’ll allow myself to use new and/or split evolutions of existing team members.

(1/5) I have way too many Pokémon games that are new to me, but I’ve also got a strong hankering to replay the old ones. As a solution to this problem, I’m going to take on a generational challenge.

Me: *Excitingly sharing with my coworker that I got Japanese Pokémon games to play* Him: “That’s stupid. Why would you make playing a video game harder?” Oh. Wrong person to have this conversation with, I guess.
Imported some golden oldies! Been wanting to play Japan’s Blue since it’s the true third version of the Gen 1. Got Silver since I’ve only played Crystal. And picked up Sapphire on a whim since it was the same seller; Perk is it’ll trade to my English Ruby and Emerald perfectly.

I’ve never been able to explain it, but the sound that plays from the eight to eleven second mark of this video is what summer sounds like in my head. There was something so perfect about having the window down hearing that part when it was hot outside in 2024.

If, for the heck of it, you include Meltan and Melmetal, you’re looking at 284 Pokémon. Include some extra Sinnoh ‘Mons to round it to an even 300. The starters would be nine, and the creation trio + the lake trio would be another six. Arceus could be included at #300.

(3/3) A game that takes place later in the timeline than HG/SS that has you start in Kanto, end up in Johto, and access a portion of Sinnoh via the Sinjoh Ruins. Include mega evolutions and the “expanded Kanto / Johto Dex” of the OG 251 plus their expanded evolutionary lines.

(2/3) He wants pixel art, so let’s subtract LGPE from the list. I’d suggest HG/SS at that point. They’re playable on a 3DS, so he could even have the virtual console releases of R/G/B/Y on the same system. But I’d like to throw an idea that I think would be neat:

(1/3) For starters, this reads like it was written by an AI. The obvious point I’d like to make is there have been a lot of iterations of Kanto: Red / Green / Blue/ Yellow, Gold / Silver / Crystal, FireRed / LeafGreen, HeartGold / SoulSilver, and finally Let’s Go Pikachu / Eevee.
Idea for The Pokémon Company: I think there is a MASSIVE opportunity to capitalize on the decades of nostalgic equity that fans have with the franchise The same frenzy that originally propelled Pokémon into mainstream culture lives within millions of adults that yearn for the

Sorry it’s been a while since the last update, but I need some help getting the Trade Buddy ready for everyone. If you know anyone that can do a design review of a custom PCB for EMI/EMC compliance, please let me know! This is the final hurdle before pre-orders open.
