When possible weekly starts though is up in the air. And it STILL could be batches, because Netflix is unpredictable and none of the people working on the show itself are making these decisions! That's all.

Because NHK is so prominent, I theorise that they do NOT want to air anime weekly unless it's a first time run (simulcast with Netflix). I do not believe NHK would stoop to doing Netflix reruns when the timeslots are so demanded.

1) 48 minutes released on the first day. 2) NHK has the rights. I believe that regarding the types of Netflix Exclusives, the reason why Option 3 is so rare, is because it only happens when the major TV channel NHK is in the negotiating room.

So it seems that option 3 could be the case for SBR. Basically, Orb aired on Netflix and Japanese TV at the same time having weekly episodes. There are currently TWO hints that JOJO PART 7 has the same contract as Orb...

There are different types of Netflix Exclusives. 1) Simulcast (example: Dandadan) ALWAYS WEEKLY 2) Worldwide Release (example: JOJO PART 6) ALWAYS BATCHES 3[RARE]) Worldwide Simulcast (example: Orb) <- Was weekly.

For the first time ever, JoJo is airing on NHK in Japan. This is major, because NHK is the most important TV channel in Japan and their names even appear on the credits of Steel Ball Run Episode 1.

We have found new evidence that Steel Ball Run could be weekly. [WARNING: Could still be batches] And it's all to do with the Japanese Television Channel that bought the airing rights for this season of JoJo.

To CGI haters... 1) This is good CGI usage directorially, shots were considered 2) The 2D highlights would not be as good if they had to draw everything by hand 3) The blending of dimensions is out of this world Take the Armoured Titan from AOT season 3, janky 2D.

Basically, they're being AMBITIOUS again. Which is the most important thing for me, taking into account the strengths of the animated medium. I kid you not this may have had more animation than the first 12 episodes of Stone Ocean.

The independence of the storyboard compared to the manga panels has never been this good! This is the most creative the anime has ever been! The new approach introduces NEW issues such as jank and off-model drawings. But removes the OLD issues such as lack of movement.

(SBR #01) The GOLDEN AGE of the JOJO ANIME is BACK! But in a completely new way. The double-length feature is here! How was it produced? Basically like 2 independent episodes stitched together. First quarter made me really worried but the episode won me over by the end.

The Part 6 anime mishandling fever dream was insane and you honestly had to be there to experience it.

I wonder if the dub script is going to Part 6 it, taking the fan translated colored manga script entirely, errors included, and not using it for their BluRay subtitles like previous parts cuz it'd be too obvious in raw text that they pasted all of it๐ค

We even have one GEAR 5 scene with the 'old style' and its funny because the episode right after has jawdropping frame counts.

One Piece still sometimes goes back to the 90s method of shonen action animation with frame loops. It's getting increasingly rare but this is an example from an arc as new as Wano. It's just very interesting to have an anime with both the traditional and modern method pop up.

Random conspiracy theory I've always had but what if One Piece switched to 16:9 super early in 2004 BECAUSE the long ring long land was specifically so wide it would have been hard to convey the landscape in 4:3??? Either way really futuristic, Naruto was 4:3 till 2008

I'm seeing AI writing patterns literally everywhere now on this app. When will we get the "Block AI" button???? Pro tip, when reading a post read it in your head as what you think the person who wrote it is like. If it feels soulless it's AI... sigh.

My thoughts on SBR trailer:
@johnnyFjostar Mostly the same as the teaser, it's clearly trying to be a bit more animated than I expected however. For example there's multiple shots in the trailer where there's onomatopoeia + actual movement. In past seasons almost all shots with onomatopoeia were still shots. Looking good.

Gosso's boarding and directing in season 3 is even more intense than what I thought from people describing it. You really have to see it to believe it.
