Citizen Fire Inspectors, you may have noticed several Fire Code violations in this image including blocked access to electrical panels, blocked access to a fire extinguisher, and storing combustibles in an electrical room. The extinguisher is useless if you can't reach it.

EFR, @jeffcosheriffco & @CSP_News responded to the Evergreen Post Office on 10/20 after a vehicle crashed into it. The driver was transported to a hospital with minor injuries; the building was not damaged. CSP is investigating the crash.

Even one of the top imaging companies in the US admits how much better ultrasound is than mammography for breast imaging. What is not said is the radiation risk of mammograms is worse than the benign sound waves of U.S. I never Rx'd mammograms, choosing ultrasounds instead.

Friday afternoon (10/17) EFR responded to a gas leak in Brook Forest after a contractor broke a ½-inch line. The company that owns the pipe responded to repair it, which included clamping it upstream of the break. Remember to contact 811 prior to digging. https://t.co/Hz8dJ9acoQ

Tower 182 is a robust firefighting tool, but only when it’s controlled by trained firefighters. Here firefighters learn how to a large-volume water nozzle, while the ladder is extended in case a large or tall building is on fire in our community. #Everything4You

Have you added the FREE PulsePoint Responds or PulsePoint AED Apps to your smartphone? They can alert you if someone nearby needs #CPR, and show the location of nearby AEDs. This screenshot shows some of the AEDs in our community. Be a PulsePoint responder & help us save lives.

Sometimes conditions in a burning building worsen and firefighters have to "bail out." Firefighters in the current Academy practiced quick exits from upper floors last weekend. For training they were connected to a safety rope; in actual emergencies, they probably won't.

We expect to see more motorcycles today because it's #NationalMotorcycleRideDay. Helmets should have a DOT symbol on the outside exterior to show it meets Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 218, but helmets aren't the only solution. We all need to share the road & stay alert.

Improving firefighter training and connecting training to community needs is a goal of EFR's Strategic Plan. Last month’s Fire Academy included training on forcible entry taught firefighters how to bypass locked doors quickly and safely in emergency situations. #Everything4You
