#Tsunami #updates live: waves hit US west coast as alerts downgraded in #Japan, #Hawaii and #Russia after #earthquake off Russian coast. South American Pacific coastal countries issue warnings.

Evacuations in response to #tsunamiwarnings taking place at hotels on #Hawaii’s Big Island:

In #Hawaii the Dept of Transportation has issued an update including ordering all vessels to leave port following #tsunami warning. There are several updates in the graphic worth noting and following.

Great to see potential #tsunami arrival times. I’ve also seen photos posted of folk taking it seriously and evacuating. Remember, first waves does not mean highest/strongest.

The US #Tsunami Warning System said: “The danger can continue for many hours after the initial wave as subsequent waves arrive. Tsunami wave heights cannot be predicted and the first wave may not be the largest.”

A #Tsunamiwarning warning has been issued for the state of #Hawaii. Officials say it could cause “damage along coastlines of all islands in the state”, warning “urgent action should be taken to protect lives and property”.
