FER has been around for a decades . It’s had its highs and lows but still keeps going to promote, protect and preserve all that we love about the res.

Respite in the city. A twilight walk with sounds of birds settling down on trees and water at #edgbastonreservoir. Despite requirements to protect this #LNR, Developers set sights to illuminate the #reservoir at night with a proposed waterside development on the opposite side.

Great to return to @BibbeysWildFarm today after a leg injury Finch numbers have predictably fallen after fireworks/storms but Yellowhammer are building and great to record 6 Reed Bunting Stonechat are wintering again at a new site but no sign of XC or BZ yet. Also Peregrine.

The #VisMig @highburypark yesterday was loved, by those who braved the weather, so much that a 2026 programme is being planned! 28 bird species including 317 Wood Pigeon, 14 Redwing, 13 Chaffinch, 9 Meadow Pipit, 6 Fieldfare, Redpoll & a “Grey Goose” (high south, probable Bean)

FER will lead our annual Industrial Heritage walk and talk this evening as part of @bheritageweek Edgbaston Reservoir was built as an integral part of Birmingham’s canal network and is an important part in Birmingham’s Industrial past and present .

FER will host a heritage walk around Edgbaston Reservoir celebrating its 200 year history Meet at The Lodge, Reservoir Road entrance at 6pm on Monday 15 Sept . The circuit path is accessible however there are no toilets on site . The event is free No booking required
