Got an advance copy of my new novel that’s coming out next spring, and I’m pointing at one of my favourite lines in the entire book. Kudos to @penguinrandom for including this on the copyright page for all new and reprinted books going forward.

- Get organized and educate others. Join local groups committed to the cause. Speak openly to influence those around you. - Make lifestyle changes that suit you. Eat less meat. Buy less fast fashion. Take transit more. There’s so much we can do to make a positive impact. 💚

- Be careful with what you may be funding with your own money. Many investment portfolios fund fossil fuels and arms manufacturing. Speak with your planner/advisor to ensure your investments align with your values.

- Influence policymakers. Contact your local reps by phone, email, or in person. They’ll want to know what their constituents care about, esp during election season. - Vote!

If marches and rallies aren’t your jam, no worries! Change requires sustained, concerted action, and there are many ways to make a difference:

Step 1: hold the worst offenders (BIG OIL) accountable to capping emissions and transitioning to clean energy. Stop letting banks/politicians put $$ in their pockets.

This is the best I could come up with for today’s #GlobalClimateStrike, but at least it sums up my message: we’re behind the 8-ball, yes, but we still have a chance to avert climate devastation if we act now, together.

The experience changed my perspective on people in prison. Nobody wants to be defined by their worst decision, and inmates are no different. I may have met the more hopeful side, but they’re all human like the rest of us, capable of good, bad, and everything in between.
