"we don't have a shortage of X, we have a ..." is a massive red flag invariably a sign that the author doesn't understand how shortages lead to many other undesirable things

I think that if there are people fighting with machetes in your streets then yeah, maybe losing your shit at the people in charge is an appropriate response
