Asst Prof of Digital Humanities at UBC-Okanagan. Opinions & jokes my own.
Kelowna, British Columbia
Joined August 2010
I've had a really great year as a postdoc, and I'm thrilled to announce that I'll be joining the Faculty of Creative and Critical Studies at UBC-Okanagan as Assistant Professor of Digital Humanities (TT). I feel singularly lucky.

Really lovely to see students thrive in the DH classes here at @ubcokanagan
In our Digital Humanities courses at UBCO, students focus on the conceptualization, production and communication of humanities research in a digital context. https://t.co/TBCi239ZRW

Hive Mind, I saw an article about close reading as a probabilistic method and it blew my little DH Mind but I did not save it. Does anyone know what it was?? Help!

my contribution to the recorded lecture/hybrid discourse is that two things can be simultaneously true: 1) faculty are absolutely squeezed by the workload of offering multiple, flexible course offerings 2) universities are horribly inaccessible and hostile to disabled students

A great thread by @juliarburnham I’m just so upset at how the university insisted to students on in-person and then turned around to manipulate faculty by saying “well the students have payed to be here” The betrayal is staggering. Looking at you @BCGovNews and Min Advanced Ed.
A note of caution for admin: Students aren’t upset at the prospect of classes going online. Students are upset that you insisted that they must be here in-person, no matter the logistic difficulty or expense. This doesn’t override a desire for safety in our current contexts.

It would be really great to visit a mall with ac during the heat wave but I have to bring my dog. What do you say @ShopOrchardPark? Puppy afternoons? I would spend all my money to be able to walk my dog right now.

Apparently when Canadians send angry texts they’re both polite and VERY early in the morning.

Let me get emotional here: I can’t overstate my gratitude for getting to work with @debraraecohen. She’s a keen editor, a fierce leader, a secret softy, and an unparalleled mentor. What a thing she has made.
