As of today, the #WebDirective will have concrete benefits for persons with disabilities: [1] #accessibility of public sector websites published after 23/09/2018, [2] with an accessibility statement and [3] a mechanism for users to give feedback on non-accessible content.

Today is the day! As of 23/9/2019, all public websites published in the last 12 months have to be accessible under the #WebDirective. Older websites will have to follow in a year, and mobile apps in 2021.

Always sad to learn about inaccessibility. To mainstream web #accessibility at the @EU_Commission, we are working on the accessibility action plan and updating our online accessibility guidance for our websites, in line with #WebDirective.

The @EU_Commission finances projects helping with the implementation of the #WebDirective: #WAItools, #WAIguide, #WADcher and #we4authors. A call for proposals adding features in authoring tools to create accessible content by default is currently open 4/4.

In October 2018, the @EU_Commission adopted the implementing acts to the #WebDirective, for a model accessibility statement, harmonised monitoring & reporting. The Harmonised European Standard for web #accessibility was published in December. … 3/4.

The #WebDirective was adopted in October 2016. It obliges Member States to provide easier access to websites & apps of public services by removing digital barriers. … 2/4.
