So excited for this book! Teachers and parents - if you aren’t familiar with Jo Boaler’s work yet - imma try not to judge, but hurry up! I have a feeling this book will be a great entry point. You need this learning in your life!

Novices seek praise. Recognizing strengths builds confidence to keep going. Experts crave criticism. Seeing shortcomings reveals avenues to keep growing. Preferring corrections to compliments is a sign of skill. The better you get, the more determined you become to get better.

Talent doesn't always express itself immediately. For some people their talent is being a high responder to training. They need to spend the time doing the work before they can fully express their gifts. We tend to overvalue those who show great initial promise.

Working with SC educators is always a great experience! The "find the special child" model is often used but ultimately creates more problems than it solves. Better to be inclusive and provide a range of advanced services for a bigger group of talented students.

So proud of our high schools who have increased their focus on access & equity to rigorous coursework through the use of the AP Potential tool. Students should consider AP courses in their unique area/s of strength and interest for optimal success. 👊
