#designoftheday Designed by Singapore's Gabriel Tan, the "Stove Chair" draws inspiration from the traditional cast iron stoves created by Shakers. An elongated hole on the sculptural chair's back is perfect for hanging on a wall mounted peg board.

#designoftheday Introduced in 1975, Honda's 2-stroke MR175 was a street legal enduro ride with serious offroad features normally found on competition bikes. It was a beautiful design that got a lot of attention. Sadly, it was a sheep in wolfs clothing.

#designoftheday The minimalist "Bankers Clock" was designed in 1971 by Arne Jacobsen for the National Bank of Denmark. This sophisticated table clock artfully combines his LK case of 1939 with the sleek clock bankers face.

#designoftheday The Nugget original play couch was designed to be much more than conventional seating. It's an infinitely configurable creative experience that lets children exercise their bodies & minds. Yes, parents can now say "play on the furniture".

#designoftheday Stockholm's Gustaf Westman has designed IKEA's first ever plate created specifically for serving Swedish meatballs. Makes sense to me.

#designoftheday Braun's BC24 alarm clock has a brilliant method for setting either the current time/alarm. Simply rotate the bezel & watch the time advance or retreat. Alas, the clock's form is too chunky & complex. Where's Dieter Rams when you need him?

#designoftheday It's interesting that Dieter Rams chose the Arne Jacobsen Series 7 desk chair with optional seat pad for his home studio. The simplicity of a well designed molded plywood chair is hard to beat. More padding doesn't always mean more comfort.

#designoftheday Aarke's optional Thermal Jug was designed for use with their innovative coffee maker. The attractive stainless steel, double-wall design is also well suited for table use. It keeps brewed coffee piping hot without the use of electricity.

#designoftheday Joe Caroff designed the iconic James Bond 007 "gun logo" in 1962 for a flat fee of $300. His integration of the gun silhouette & the numeral 7 was brilliant. Oddly enough, it's not a Walther PPK. He recently passed away at the age of 103.

#designoftheday National enduro champion & business pioneer John Penton started the light weight dirt bike revolution with his beautifully simple "steel tanker" in 1968. The sport of offroad motorcycling would never be the same. Happy 100th birthday John!

#designoftheday The 3rd generation Nissan Cube was the 1st model to be exported outside of Japan. Sporting an eye catching design created primarily by John Sahs & Alfonso Albaisa, it's best described as quirky. We need more cars with distinct personality!

#designoftheday Pitt & Giblin creates loudspeakers that exist at the juncture between imaginative design & acoustic engineering. The Superwax is a modernist assemblage of geometric forms punctuated by a bold horn-loaded tweeter cast from lustrous bronze.

#designoftheday IKEA's Stockholm 2025 table lamp elegantly combines a thin brass column, a blocky travertine base & fabric covered shade. What really makes this lamp interesting is it's dramatic simplicity & sophisticated proportions.

#designoftheday The Swaine attaché case was made famous in 1963's Bond film "From Russia with Love". It concealed gold coins, ammunition, flat throwing knives & an AR7 folding rifle with infrared sight. The iconic case is still offered, minus the gadgets.

#designoftheday Designed by Marvin Glass & Associates "Time Bomb" was released by Milton Bradley in 1964. Wind up the fuse & toss it around a circle of players, while it ominously ticks, until it "explodes". The iconic form is straight out of a cartoon.

#designoftheday Oddly enough, the "Black is White" whitening toothbrush from Curaprox is for the most part black. Charcoal coated bristles makes the magic happen. The faceted handle is a thoughtful shape as well.
