McCray Sutherlin and Will Niava took our concept, ran with it, and really created something beautiful. The first time I saw this I cried, and immediately became scared! But I knew I needed to do this!.

Shakira Smith and I came up with the concept of this video. We wanted to highlight a love story that feels almost forbidden. Two lovers, who never really had a proper ending, and when they see each other again, all it took was a light touch by the hand to recall those feelings.

Doing this record, and it being so personal, I had to include this story. This marks my first time acknowledging publicly that I am bisexual ☺️🌈.

I wanted this song to be a big climatic build of emotions– to capture our frustration, sadness, and sentiments of love lost that comes with the end to any intimate relationship.

I found myself in a flurry trying to find the feelings when I said I would be so many things for him. It’s the first breakup song I’ve ever written, and it’s the first and only love song I’ve written directly to another man.

My new single, That Feeling is out now. I dedicate this one to a cajun dude out near Lafayette, Louisiana. Back in the day, our bond and love for another was so close and intense, that it overwhelmed me. I began to be scared of it and ashamed.

Recording Wait Til I Get Over was more than making songs to me. With this project I got to unpack so much trauma that was holding me back. It’s wild to say, but I feel changed through this process, and I know that this transformation is still on going. It’s a beautiful thing.

Wait Til I Get Over comes out Friday, May 5, 2023 . A homage to the rural south, it is also a ‘letter to my 17 year old self.’ I almost called it that. I wanted to make a record that, that nerdy 17 year old dude would love. Preorder available here:
