Little Stanley popped by for a visit yesterday. Not seen him for 4 months.

Migraine has kicked my arse (legs, stomach, energy) all day since 3.25am. None of my usual meds or tricks worked today, but I am finally coming out the other end and am able to eat and drink without 🤮. Had migraines since I was a child, and they still do me in sometimes.

My debut novel has been out a month (buy it here if you’d like to support me . Novel 2 is ready to query agents with. Novel 3 is slowly turning into an actual plot. I feel like a proper writer now, having multiple projects in different stages of readiness.

For the first time ever (or first time I’ve noticed before squirrels and birds?) my twisted hazel tree is nutting!

The bees love my oregano. I let it flower for them every year to enjoy. Easily 100 bees on this, this morning.

I love this phase of writing a novel. Playing with ideas to see what could happen and where it could go. How people do that whilst pantsing the writing I don’t know. Feels wasteful to me. I’d rather play before outlining and then know exactly what I’m writing.

If a little very rural show about a town as far north as you can get (North of North) can have multiple queer characters, there’s really no excuse for big mainstream shows to miss us out.

I think these are long-tailed tits which I’ve never seen in my garden before. I’ve seen plenty of other tits (blue, great, coal and maybe a willow), so it was nice to see a pair of tits I’ve not seen before

I came up with a rough concept for novel 3 today. It wasn’t what I originally thought it was gonna be, but this idea just sort of felt right and current. Yes it’s queer. Yes it’s crime/mystery. It might even be thriller. It still needs some playing with until it’s solid.

Been to a family do and several people asked me how my book was doing and when I told them I’d sold about 100 copies (in 4 weeks) they reacted as though they felt sorry for me, as though 100 copies for a debut self published novel isn’t actually fucking amazing. 🤷🏼‍♂️.
