Itās true! AI will be a great tool for many reasons, but whatever your role in the music industry, be aware of the dangers and fight for fairness. In this new era, letās stand together to ensure AI is used ethically and responsibly. Creators must be paid for the use of their work.
@drury_rachael āYou can be anyone in the music industry and this will affect youā - @drury_rachael . Government decisions on AI regulation will have enormous implications on our creative industries. They must get it right.

Thank you for having me to talk about a key issue for the music industry that is such a passion of mine! @ISM_music @DeborahAnnetts.
Last panel session AI - friend or foe. Brilliant synopsis from Rachael Drury on what is generative AI and how it takes creators work without permission or payment to compete against creators who made the work in the first place @ISM_music

The entitlement that some people feel they have to creative works like music and art baffles me. You wouldnāt walk into a furniture shop and take a table. You wouldnāt take an iPhone from an Apple store. These products have IP too. Perhaps tech execs just donāt understand IP?.

This is why @MikeyShulman ās argument that āmaking music is hardā is a terrible justification for autonomous AI. Thereās nothing wrong with using a platform like Suno. There is something wrong when that platform fails to compensate the artists for the work it was built on.
One demarcation between artists & people who make AI art - is that artists love getting lost in the slow process and the struggle of making art, and are very rarely happy when that process is over and the artwork is finished. They are process-focused, not product-focused.
