This week's technical blog is me writing my first RegEx expressions, covering the simple pattern matching. A long way to go, but I am excited to finally learn these things!.

I’ve recorded many sporting events over the years. And I have had many sporting events spoiled before I could watch them. Usually an alert, or a stranger who says something, but tonight was a first. A billboard announcing the @NashvilleSC match winner :) Still worth the watch!.

Seriously a question. Does this hat get security updates still? Is there an upgrade path? When I try to upgrade it, I keep getting error messages like “you will need a physical patch to upgrade this product”, but I am not sure if that is a virus or not. Still, love this hat!

I looked up why Regular Expressions are called “regular” because these things are NOT regular in any sense of the word I have used. Turns out, much like the word “normalization” (which we all know isn’t really normal…it is related to math/theory. Of course.

New blog on using REGEXP_LIKE and LIKE as a team, not enemies. Really excited to start using the new REGEXP family of functions in SQL Server 2025 for real work someday. Next up, learning the basic regular expression syntax, easy right?.

Was going to play around with RegEx in SQL Server 2025 today and so I thought "I would like to generate some quick data." Then I decided, let's try ChatGPT. Well that let to an interesting interaction with a few interesting outputs.
