This is why high tides occur every ~12 hours. I learned a lot since I made the first lunar tides animation, not only in blender optimization but also in the science of high tides :). Thanks to all the people who commented on the original video and pointed out the two tides facts.

*One tide forms towards the side of the moon because of the gravitational pull of the moon. A second tide forms on the opposite side of the planet due to the centrifugal force of the earth and moon spinning around their combined center of mass called the barycentre.
