The Guiding Light (lower left), hands down. Funny thing was, I didn’t have to stay home from school to watch it — it came on at 3:00 and school let out at like 2:30 or 3:00. Would usually catch the last half. Harley and Mallet were my faves! ❤️

Vermilion as red makes sense to me 🤷🏿‍♀️. But chartreuse as green NEVER made sense to me (thought it was a shade of brown for years). Then TIL that the color is from a liqueur of the same name…?!? Mind kinda blown. #randomthoughtsandrevelations

It’s Passover, Ramadan, Good Friday, and Vaisakhi all at once which I don’t think has been seen before, at least in many of our lifetimes Holy & important days for Muslims, Jews, Christians, Sikhs and some Hindus. This is amazing

I think about bell hooks dying at 69. When I was a dept chair, I thought about my life expectancy often. I thought about the stress of working with a small group of people who never wanted me to be hired and who tortured me daily. 1/

I did not attend an HBCU (a mistake, in retrospect), but I have always felt commitment to my community as the wind at my back in more difficult times.

“I don’t see color.” Please stop saying this. Let’s SEE each other and embrace each other with love, dignity and immeasurable worth.

🙋🏿‍♀️ My “gifted” classes in Brooklyn (elementary and JHS) had a nice representation of Black folks. Once I got to my Manhattan city-wide specialized high school, which was essentially all “gifted”, I was often the only Black person in my classes of ~30 students.
