“I-uhm…what?” This was all a bit much for Kyjana to take in. Sidekick? World domination? She thought that the detective life was much…quieter than this.
"See, my sidekick and I are fighting this organization that's interested in... world domination, to say the least. If we could distract them with someone who says they're there with a common goal, to destroy me and my sidekick? Me and him could have a chance to infiltrate."

“O-oh! I-uhm…have ice powers, yes…” That stone-cold expression that she had just moments ago was replaced by a more flustered one, face turning a little red.
Mai sprang to her feet, ready to call forth her spear, but she overheard Kyjana. Just before she was going to question what was said, she watched in awe as her friend conjured a magnificent bridge of ice and strode across it. “Woah! I didn't know you could do that!”

“What do I have to to? Risk factor? What are you putting me into?”
"Would you like to assist me with a case? I will pay you based on risk factor."

“Wait…what am I thinking? Ice is literally my thing. I can see probably just…” The girl then tapped the soles of her feet, and then began to attempt skating across the water, forming a small ice bridge. Despite how whimsical this may seem, the mystril had a stone expression.
As they approached the river, Mai kneeled down, she dipped finger dipped into the water, only to find no ground beneath it. Gradually, she submerged her entire hand, then her arm. It was at the midpoint of her forearm that the ground was finally touched. “It's... pretty deep.”

“A decoy? What is it now?” An unimpressed look on Kyjana’s face.
"Ah! But wait!" She quickly runs to catch up with the girl, gripping her shoulder tightly. "You look like you'd make a great decoy... would you like to assist me?"

“Yeah…I don’t think it’s too far…just gotta get through this…” The girl paused, noticing a rather large river that they’d have to cross. “River.”
With a warm smile, Mai walked closely beside Kyjana, willing to offer her friend some comfort as they ventured deeper into their journey together. “At least it's not too long of a walk, huh?”

Kyjana started leading the way, relatively quickly leaving town to head towards the mountain. “I think it should be a straight shot there, just navigating as straight as possible through this forest…”
“It's okay, I'm used to handling things out of the blue!”

“That’s okay then. Let’s get going. Well, that’s if you’re ready. I did kind of just throw this on you, didn’t I?”
“Oh!” Even though Mai didn’t fully grasp the material's power, she nodded with confidence, at least showing that she had a solid handle on the basics. “It seems pretty important, but I'll still keep you safe regardless!”

“Then…good luck on that then. I hope you enjoy your day off.” Kyjana started to walk again, giving a gentle wave. She didn’t want to ‘waste’ this detective’s time any longer than she was.
"Surely, you understand. I've work to do. I've no time for trivial interactions... Not until my day off."

“I’m…sorry?” How self centered this detective is…
She huffs in frustration. "How boring... In that case, you've wasted my time."

The girl held a defensive posture, and a magic shield formed in front of her, something akin to a barrier block, which Mai must be familiar with by now.

“Junite are small orbs like these. They all have a different effect when held or equipped like this…” She slotted it into her staff, ‘Moon Illusion’. “This one is a barrier Junite, which allows me to do stuff like this easier.” +

“Oh…? I’m not too concerned about my own well being, I believe I can fend for myself well. I just didn’t want to go on a whole expedition with nobody to talk to, methinks…” Kyjana then reached into her coat pocket, rummaged a bit, and pulled out a small, blue orb. +
@driftintodreams “Huh?” Mai looked over in the distance where Kyjana had been pointing at. “I'll join you so you can be safe! But... what's Junite?”
