Now apply this logic to TSS and Superman, both of which supposedly had massive trailer views but then flopped, implying that people saw those trailers and went "oh, I guess these movies aren't very good" and it affected their future performance.
Also a bunch of these movies ARE the problem. Suicide Squad making money meant a lot of people saw it and many of those people said "oh, I guess these movies aren't very good". That tends to affect the future movies negatively.

Did I stutter? Zack Snyder is a remarkably efficient filmmaker and he shot 4 hours of material for ZSJL, a film that could easily have been split in 2 and released as Part One and Part Two, for the same budget as your fave would make one 2.5 hour film in. #RestoreTheSnyderverse

Gunn is clearly seen as a negative asset for the sale. He was there to drive up the value for sale time. He drove it down down down. A #RestoreTheSnyderVerse announcement by Mike Deluca would drive up DCs value and the purchase cost by a few % points at the negotiating table.
