Important lessons in interviewing. We’ve also got a series for students who want to learn from attendings about optimizing the interview process.
From the article: What’s remarkable is how much easier interviews become when you stop trying to impress and start trying to connect. Anxiety loses its grip when you realize the interviewer isn’t your enemy. — @drcorriel

As insurers increasingly rely on AI to decide what’s “medically necessary,” physicians are being overruled by algorithms that have never seen a patient, leaving both doctors and patients powerless in a system driven by profit, not care. Daniel Paull, MD weighs in.

In some instances, humor can help us to connect with others, and they feel closer to us. Other times, it works the opposite way. You have to know where that balance exists.
"When humor works, it builds connection. Patients want to see their clinicians as approachable, human, and empathetic. A funny reel can communicate, “I get it. I know what you’re going through. I have a sense of humor about it too."” — @drcorriel

There is ALWAYS time to pivot and do something even “a little” different than what you’re doing, if it means being happier, healthier, more wholesome. Life’s too precious.
From the article: Whether you’re in your 30s, 50s, or beyond, there’s still time to pivot, to build, and to rediscover what lights you up. — @drcorriel

My latest, with a soft-announcement of a new business I founded and built/am building. Helping to design more interesting healthcare spaces.
A thoughtfully designed practice space tells your story. It reflects your values and shows your patients that you’ve thought about their experience from every angle. — article written by Dana Corriel, MD https://t.co/WEPaBqZCUR via @somedocs

Kicked out. Again. Not for misinformation, not for hate, but for giving doctors a voice. When open dialogue becomes dangerous, it’s time to ask why. #SoMeDocs #MedicineNeedsDialogue #FreeSpeechInMedicine

From the article: The physician’s office is never a level playing field. Patients come in sick, scared, or searching for answers. — @drcorriel

Dr. Corriel reminds us that ridicule erodes trust in healthcare & that true medical care requires protecting dignity as much as treating disease.

I remain committed to building what SoMeDocs was always meant to be: a place where physicians are heard, truly heard. Not just when they fit in, but especially when they don’t. Because medicine doesn’t need another cult. It needs community. — @drcorriel

Our founder, Dr. Corriel, responds to backlash. Plus, why SoMeDocs will keep amplifying physician voices, even when it’s uncomfortable.
