3 years after returning home to New Zealand, I'm FINALLY hearing my inner thoughts being voiced by others. Coming home is wonderful. But also so, so hard. Thanks @duncangreive, @JaneYee and returnees for making this podcast, it might be the best therapy I've ever received 😂

We are seeking signatures of support from the geoscience community for our request that the Geoscience Society of New Zealand start providing child care at conferences. Read and sign the letter here: https://t.co/Yss34QYyXW, and please share with your network! #OtagoGeology

Not only did this student think my teaching should be rewarded with wine, she also added an @OtagoGeology major to her double degree! 🙌 But how did she know my teenage hotmail address...?

A PEPEHA thread. 1/4 A pepeha is an oratorical address that formally recognises each person’s unique ancestral links, courtesy of their genealogies. It is what both makes us distinct, and united. I know its contentious but I love when pākeha & tauiwi research & learn pepeha.

Indigenous Knowledges can be accurate, rigorous, and precise, say researchers in New Zealand, and they can help geomorphologists see landscapes in a new, richer way.

Our students ran a pēpēhā workshop for te wiki o te reo today and it was so great to turn the tables and have students teach staff for a change - this mahi makes me proud to be part of @OtagoGeology !

I made these for my own education, but also want to share them. They are "bite-sized" summary of peer-rev'd articles (which I provide a QR code that directs you to them). I will be sharing a few a day, will continue this project for as long as possible. #Strike4BlackLives #BLM

Witnessing another delightful group of students evolve into field geologists has been the best start to the teaching year @otago Advanced field studies at Maerewhenua, North Otago. (You can tell the geology was great - we’re sitting on a farm fence built of columnar basalt) ⚒
