My thread on the #assistedplaces scheme, widening participation, #WorkingClass identity, social mobility and aspiration, small humiliations, and ice cream tubs. @WalesArtsReview encouraged me to turn it into an article/memoir: https://t.co/EyR0k8UMc6
I've noticed quite a few posts recently about academia and working class identity. I've been thinking a lot about my own journey, especially since I got a permanent lectureship late last year, in open access adult education.

I'll be over on B l u e S k y if you want me. Considering deletion here. This place helped me find my voice as a writer but it's a very different (hellscape) environment now. https://t.co/lss3p5Vk3K

Hi @tfwrail the on-board announcements on my train just now were so quiet I couldn't hear them. Only realised my train was going backwards (in relation to my intended destination of Cathays) when I jumped off to & heard platform announcements. Please could you feed this back. 😞

Haven't been able to read fiction in nearly a year (because everything has been quite shit.) This has reminded me why I love to read. (It's a brilliant novel about working-class Welsh women's experience). Couldn't even pick up a book & now can't put this down. Thank you, @gemhow

One passenger was really upset as he would now be late. It really should be announced on both the train and the platform so passengers can make informed choices. Appreciate if this could be fed back to station staff and crew.

My performance development review (PDR) meeting started with "well done". As a line manager, I always highlight the positives in PDRs -- but I realised I've never really had the same kind of treatment myself until today. Makes such a huge difference to motivation & feeling seen.

It is super weird that when you make it harder and harder for international students to come to the UK, they stop coming to the UK.

Daisy's come over for a sleepover. She's rejected her bed and has decided my top is better. (I've just had a can't-make-it-stop-till-the-light's-on nightmare so I'm very glad of the company.)
