Rather than bans, young people should be empowered with the digital skills that they need to navigate & manage their (properly regulated) online environments in ways that will enable them to flourish.

By focusing on social media, we risk diverting attention & resources from well-documented contributors to youth mental health. While the risks & harms associated with online environments must be taken seriously, social media also provide essential support for many adolescents

Attributing declining youth mental health to social media oversimplifies the issue, leading to misguided solutions like bans. A more nuanced approach is required, considering broader contributing factors & acknowledging the complex role social media plays in teenagers' lives.
