I had this phase in my teens and 20s. Oddly it ended around the time I moved from California to western Pennsylvania . Anyway in 2 weeks I am moving back to California.

one thing about growing up in the 90's/00's is all of my schoolwork was done pre-cloud. very rarely I stumble upon a high school essay, and it's always a treat. I envy kids whose entire body of work is perfectly preserved on google docs.

Referring to Reddit as an “app” is an massive tell; when I hear someone speak of the Reddit “app” in favorable terms I know they’re just a fundamentally different category of person.

Reddit has changed so much in the past 15 years, man. In 2010 it really was one of the smartest Internet forums; most of the users were Slashdot refugees or CS students who discovered it through Paul Graham’s homepage.

It bugs me that you can’t watch the Guardians of the Galaxy films as a trilogy, because the 3rd movie expects you to know exactly what happened in the crossover movies, including but not limited to a main character dying.
I often think about how the first two guardians of the galaxy movies are set a few months apart and then there is a literal decade between 2 and 3 because of connected universe mandates.

The most mistaken belief I had as a lad was that romance rewarded being inoffensive. In fact, it may very well be the opposite. Polarizing behavior that “turns some people off” is how you find your people . (This generalizes beyond dating).
in highschool there was a guy who refused to shower because he wanted to "maximize his pheromones". everyone was disgusted by it. even teachers who overheard were begging him to shower. however, he ended up getting a girlfriend who was equally weird. there's a lesson here.

I can totally believe someone dated 5+ people who weren’t good partners, but if every single one of your exes is bad in the *same way*, the problem is you.
@Indian_Bronson I will use one friend as an example. She went to Harvard, has worked in strategy and VC for years, is a sweet and normal girl who wants to start a family. She tries to date guys, but all of the ones she has tried to be serious with have wasted her time, so she's trying to.
