Everything else, Day 2 at 5 wins, win-based prizing, Bo5 finals… Honestly, I liked all of that a lot. I think it’d be great to keep those elements going forward. And just to be clear: this is all just my opinion. So I’d love to hear your thoughts!.

Rounds were ending in like 20 minutes. For a tournament that’s being broadcast, that’s a real problem. Luckily, the casters did an amazing job keeping the audience entertained. And as long as that advantage stays, aggro decks will continue to dominate in this format.

On The Play advantage. As many of you know, in Lorcana the player who goes first has a big edge. And at this tournament it was super clear:.Almost every player used their On The Play game to run their aggro deck and it often guaranteed a win. What does that mean?.

Now, onto the triple deck format. I actually find it super interesting, it adds a cool layer of strategy (even if it hurts me personally, since I don’t have much time to prep for Lorcana, single deck format is easier on my schedule). But this format really exposed a major issue.

What would I have preferred?.That all players get a similar pool, but huge so everyone can explore a different strategy. Or maybe just fewer rounds of Sealed. But as I said, I did enjoy it.

Let’s start with Sealed. Personally, I thought it was something different and fun. The problem? It feels a little unfair when your opponent plays Genie on 4 and Elsa on 5… and you’re sitting there with Denhai. There were some huge pool differences, and it showed.

Hey again! After my last post about my Worlds strategy, while I’m waiting for my flight to Spain I’m going to share my thoughts on the format itself. So here’s the million-dollar question:.- Sealed, yes or no?.- Single deck or triple deck format?.

@EdLorcana Anyway, hope this breakdown was interesting!.Always happy to chat or hear your takes, this is only my opinion. And of course, huge congrats again to @DinhKhangPham for the win—he executed his strategy flawlessly.

@EdLorcana So why did Ed make it to the finals and I didn’t, if we played the same strategy?.Simple: he’s a better player than me. His constructed lists were sharper, he played better overall, and I misplayed in Sealed R2 G2—which you just can’t do at Worlds.

@EdLorcana Basically, I didn’t fully trust my strategy and went with more “standard” lists. If I had fully committed, my lists would’ve been completely different. Probably even different color combos—real spicy. And now, after seeing everyone’s lists? That plan would’ve done really well.

@EdLorcana And when you focus on beating aggro, you’re forced to ban 🔵 decks. The problem? As you can see from my lists, my anti-aggro lists just wasn’t good enough. My ⚪️ deck was always going to get banned, my 🟢 🟣only ran two Tiberius, and 🔴🔵 is still weak vs aggro.

So most players were definitely going to bring at least one very aggressive deck. My idea (and I think Ed’s too, though I haven’t spoken to him directly—@EdLorcana , correct me if I’m wrong!) was to go the opposite route:.Don’t let the opponent win with their aggro deck.

Well, first you have to understand what the “obvious” meta plan was:.Ban ⚪️ decks and make sure 🔴decks couldn’t win. That meant at least one of your decks had to be super aggro to win on the play.

As I promised yesterday, here’s the thread on how I lost Worlds. First off, here are the 3 decks I brought. My strategy? Same as @EdLorcana : ban 🔵 decks and target aggro. And believe it or not, I do think this was the winning strategy. So. why did I lose?

I’m working on two threads for tomorrow that I think you’ll find pretty interesting:. 1.Why I lost the World Championship—and how I think I could’ve won it. thoughts on the World Championship format. For today… it’s Disney World time! Stay tuned!.
