Excited to have this piece out - we'll share as soon as it's online. But in the meantime, it's been a blast exploring conceptualizations of community and local with @Nick_Mathews - looking forward to future collaborations!!.
Beyond excited that a piece with the incomparable @docmattweber has been accepted for publication. More to come, but the article utilizes a nationwide U.S. survey to examine how people define "local." I think it will make a real contribution to work on news, community and local.

Congratulations to @allkost on her first book - now out in the world for all to read - chronicling the incredibly important intersecting of news production / technology / computational skills. Awesome work by a brilliant @RutgersCommInfo alum!.
My book “News Nerds: Institutional Change in Journalism” is out! . I argue journalism has undergone institutional augmentation: journalists are not only researching and writing; theyre coding, running analytics, developing apps. They are the News Nerds. 🧵

I guess this is to be expected w @amtrak but standing on the platform and the app says the train is on time - reality is it ended up being 40 minutes late. Frustrating when you've got a short trip!

Always wonderful to hear @foucaultwelles talk research - her presentation as part of Rutgers NetSCI Distinguished Speaker Series was a great way to wrap up the week. Her discussion of networked counterpublics & her research on #HashtagActivism was timely and enlightening.

Powerful to read and an important reminder as I’m on an early flight home to be back for the kids bedtime.
🧵 Today marks one year since my brain surgery @PennMedicine to remove a brain tumor. Today I am humbled to be able to say I am completely healthy and can physically live my life as though it never happened. But I can’t lead my life like it never did. I have learned so much

It's a small thing, but I'm a customer for life, and it was a touching act. I'm impressed at the care shown for their customers. RIP sweet Louie. and thanks @chewy for the thoughtfulness.

What do you think @RutgersU ?.
Kind of amazing sense of humanity @uofsandiego - a one time discretionary payment of $2500 as a thank you to faculty for hard work and recognition of the insane economy. I'm not eligible, but I'm glad it is something my new employer thinks to do.
