this type of pro consumerism argument on fanfiction makes no sense. fanfiction started BECAUSE of what the fans wanted to see - its made because of our desire to see the characters the way we want... people just be saying shit rn. just use the damn archive the way is supposed to
@AlphaB1tch To me it’s reflects a real anti-art and pro-consumerist mindset. We NEVER discuss fic from the perspective of the writers or ask why they make the choices they do. There’s no interest or concern for them as creatives. The focus is always whether the desires of the reader are met.

i once read a very well written fic with an unhappy ending that was untagged. it was absolutely a waste of my time, and left me upset for the entire day after. and guess what? i didn’t go into the comments to shit on the story bc it’s RUDE to do so per the fandom etiquette.
That's your problem to deal with, and I think it's weird. Usually I'll just enjoy the rest of the story and move forward. But saying reading the fic was a "waste of your time" and acting like the author didn't do the "bare minimum" when they poured hours into a story? Fuck you.
