it also bothers me when people attack nonbinary identities by saying it’s “recently made up” or a “fad” because it’s completely ahistorical. completely erases centuries of indigenous histories where there is extensive documentation of nonbinary people and their customs.

also i love maddie but she clearly has some learning to do when it comes to detaching from gender binaries and heteronormativity. literally the only qualification to being trans is not identifying as the gender you were assigned at birth, it’s as simple as that.

it’s honestly really surprising to see so many people (trans included) struggle to understand nonbinary identities. it’s just not binary lol. not male nor female. the reason it’s a trans identity is because it’s a person identifying as a gender not assigned at birth.
