UPDATE: Federal Judge issues restraining order barring DHS use of riot control weapons "on members of the press, protestors, or religious practitioners who are not posing an immediate threat to the safety of a law enforcement officer or others" — in part because of this incident.
The video of this incident is just as bad as it sounds. The priest is standing there, not doing anything remotely illegal, and without warning a masked DHS agent on the roof shoots him in the top of his head with a pepper ball.

A major update to our story on Pope Leo's meeting with El Pasoans. Video of the meeting shows him encouraging U.S. bishops to speak more forcefully on immigration and mass deportations. "I wish they were stronger in their own voice," @Pontifex said.
Pope Leo XIV grew emotional as an El Paso delegation led by @BishopSeitz shared migrants’ letters and a video about the fear and pain of possible mass deportations. “You stand with me, and I stand with you,” the pontiff said. https://t.co/wU9LROg0Sj

Yes, there are already tariffs in place on Mexico, but the vast majority of goods sent between Texas and our largest trading partner have been exempt from them for months. That could change Monday, and bring with it economic turmoil, experts say. #txlege

Donors are turning out to support local stations, but those contributions so far fall well short of the roughly $535 million a year that Congress cut.

Like most of the more than 230 Venezuelan men deported to a Salvadoran prison, José Manuel Ramos Bastidas had followed U.S. immigration rules. Then Trump rewrote them.
