Here are some of my learnings from losing 57.32 lbs this year 📝
Before delving in, a quick disclaimer: I'm neither a health practitioner, a fitness trainer, nor a weight loss specialist. These are reflections based on my personal experience.

3 years ago today, I started my career as a product design intern with very little knowledge of design, no idea of how to use figma, and the “I’m a very fast learner” line
Grateful for the people who took a chance on me.
1st Learning 😅:
You've probably heard it before, but I'll share some strategies I used to make this less difficult for myself, especially as someone who loves food🍕.
Weight loss revolves around consuming fewer calories than you burn also known as your TDEE (total daily energy
I’ve never gotten so much compliments on my work before (just UX explorations and not UI yet) and the first thing that came to my mind the first few times was “am I overhyped” obviously I’m not
But it got me thinking, is working with Nigerian clients not toxic and we don’t know?
Tears of joy as I’m packing my bags.
I’m so proud of myself for not giving up, also super grateful to God for the strength to keep pushing because I honestly was tired and was ready to give up
Food 5 ⚡:
There’s also a thing to be said about how frequently you eat, what you eat and how it spikes your insulin levels, i honestly don’t know much about it yet but you can check it out.
Finally, on food, I increased my water intake (it's recommended to take 3l of water
2nd Learning 😲:
To gain 1kg (2.2lbs) of weight, you would need to eat approximately 7000 calories more than your daily intake ( your daily intake might range between ± 2000 to 2500 calories)
Understanding this was crucial for me since the scale would sometimes fluctuate. The
In the space of 1 year, I’ve gone from getting multiple rejections to multiple offers, and one of the things that made this huge difference for me was, “building my interview confidence”
Food 1🍩:
As I mentioned before, losing weight is mainly about eating fewer calories than you burn. To accomplish this, I realized I needed to pay attention to the nutritional content of what I eat.
It's important because sometimes a small-looking portion can actually have a

Food 2 🍪:
With being in a caloric deficit, people take different approaches, so find what works best for you and give it a try.
Some methods people use include portion control, various types of intermittent fasting like 16:8 (eating within an 8-hour window and fasting for
Food 4 🍫:
Here are a few foods I enjoyed and what I substituted some things with.
(my goal with all of this was to make my favourite foods in a format with fewer calories.) So, you can do the same for yourself.
🍲Okro soup - I made it without red oil, using different peppers
Food 3 🍉:
As someone who loves food, it was important for me to eat what I enjoyed, what makes me feel full, and be in a deficit.
I didn’t want to eat anything that wasn’t yummy to me, so I made substitutions in some of my food choices.
I also learned the benefits of
Most times to succeed in the workplace as a designer, you need more than just your craft skills.
Check out some of the soft skills you should have in this video.

I have anxiety for meeting new people but I’m also a very friendly person.
So I can be very scared to meet new people but when we finally meet we can be gisting and laughing like I’ve known them my whole life.
This is so true and so sad!
if your quiet & introverted it’ll take you a longer time to progress through the career ladder regardless of the work you’re doing.
It becomes worse when you’re working with someone who is more vocal about the work and hardly gives you credit.
This! In a lot of organizations including your favs:
PERCEPTION > Reality.
So, for your career to progress in those spaces, the people at certain levels need to FEEL that you are doing the work.
Unfortunately, feelings do not require evidence to manifest.
We are Live 🚀🚀🔥
I just launched my design job board and one of my favorite things about it is, you can get connected with designs recruiters to link you up with companies that are hiring 🎉
Big Shout out to

There’s so much to learn from people but we might not be able to by simply reaching out to them the wrong way.
In this video, I talked about The Top 4 mistakes to avoid when networking and what you can do instead.

Honestly though... Design twitter is becoming very toxic. Everyone wants to be heard even if what they are saying doesn't make any sense. We have a lot to learn and unlearn.
Big news! 🎉
Tomorrow, our mentorship program at
@Designchics
kicks off!
We've matched over 80+ female designers with 33 talented design mentors across Africa for this.
The impact this program will have on female designers in Africa has us buzzing with excitement. 💃🏽🚀
Google photos reminded me of a picture from last year and I just realized that most of the life I was craving for last year is what I have now.
This is Just a confirmation that If Jesus puts it in my heart, it’s gonna happen, it’s just a matter of time.
All these tool fight
Figma, XD, Sketch
whichever the project requires, use it. Whichever you’re most comfortable using, just use it. Get the work done.

As a designer you’re supposed to be...
Should designers blah blah
Designers should blah blah😒
Give me a break please, before I became a designer I was a human.
I’m still a human being 🤦🏽♀️

If you’re a new designer please carefully select people you get feedback from. it can make or break you. There were times I was frustrated and confused Like I cried about what I was working on and my growth.
Last year when I had the strong push to start
@Designchics
I was just like “God abeg, I'm not a social media person”
But seeing how excited the ladies were on the call yesterday about design chics, I'm so grateful I didn't let that fear stop me.
Been 2year since I became a rebel and left my parents home to figure out my life
One of scariest things I’ve done but I’m grateful I did it.
😂😂Gosh, I was crying and fighting them to allow me go
Me to God: God I know you're going to give me this thing I want, I just have to be patient for the right time.
God: oh definitely, I'll give it to you, just wait.
Me after 2hrs:
