You gotta have not read at all to think they're similar in character & purpose. Reze is a name from "Ibuki" a story Tatsuki Fujimoto never published. And people should go watch Jin-roh & Typhoon Club if you actually want to know Fujimoto's inspirations.
I think Fujimoto was clearly inspired by the Rize arc from Tokyo Ghoul, even if he never says it. The similarities are pretty crazy — emotional manipulation, purple hair, coffee shop, and even her name is Rize.
