Hard to be an astronomer. Last night I cancelled early cause the forecast was so bad. Turned out perfect. Rained for hours today. I said go and it's clear, but a flash flood prevented my people from showing up.

Man it feels good to be stoked about something new. I had Astro Mucho's second official star talk tonight, and went three hours overtime for a two hour program. Great guests with lots of questions I couldn't answer. Now I'm home at 4am and grinding astronomy knowledge.

All this rain has flooded the Rio Grande as well. We ran the 3 day Santa Elena Canyon trip yesterday in 6 hours, and a 20 minute shower rewarded us with waterfalls. One of the best moments ever in my blue boat!. What are y'all up to these days?

That may have been my most pleasurable river trip ever. 7 days on Middle Fork of the Salmon, 100 miles through Idaho wilderness. I highly recommend it commercially. They give you the white glove treatment and always get the best camps. @angryjmonnett

Walking through Austin, found this lost mama duck with two chicks. Escorted them to a greenbelt that leads to water. I hope they find a place to rest away from the road. In the process, I watched one of those driverless cars square up with them, and stopped dead in its tracks!

#TIL that if I host a free event on private land, with camping and no alcohol sales, I incur liability. If somebody drinks too much of their own beer, drives away, and fucks something up, somehow that's my fault for hosting. My gawd. Gives me more respect for event planners.
