@MolonLabeVC After that, it was just a matter of setting the router up and messing around in the Bitaxe settings to connect it to the WiFi. Beauty 🤌.

@MolonLabeVC For the first, I used metallic carflex, ending in a 90 degree liquidtight fitting. For the second, I bought some pole mounting brackets on Amazon, a tilt mount kit for the solar panel, and some hose clamps strong enough to hold the weight. Paydirt.

@MolonLabeVC 6) At this point, there were two things left to do: Run the 10awg wire from the solar panel to the controller inside the enclosure, and mount the panels and enclosure.

@MolonLabeVC 5) Then cut holes for a fan and exhaust vent, diagonally opposite each other to maximize the area inside through which air would flow. There’s a louvered vent on the exhaust, sealed with RTV and a gasket between the vent and the enclosure.
Beautiful! We’ll be mounted and measuring temps later this week. Then we see just how long our autonomous public Bitcoin miner can run 🚀

This also created a space to store the bus bars, some of the wires, and the solar controller, which I was warned could create electrical noise that would interfere with the LTE router (thanks @MolonLabeVC).

4) To solve this, I built a platform out of telespar and some shelving brackets to elevate the battery off the floor. This gave it the room necessary for airflow so a fan on the bottom could push cool air through the interior.

3) Designing the interior layout. Beyond the question of how to fit everything efficiently, it had to factor in cooling – if the battery was flush with the bottom, it would impede airflow and make it impossible to cool the devices.
Still in R&D mode. A few unsexy updates:. - Great LTE signal inside the enclosure, but the metal backplate is liable to interfere so I’m replacing it with PVC. - Solar cable will be housed in metallic carflex and plug in through a hole drilled on the upper left wall. -

2) Choosing an enclosure based on specifications for weatherproofing and signal conductivity. This is a $90 VEVOR enclosure that was IP-67 rated.
A beautiful 20” enclosure from the fine artists at VEVOR. The next step towards deploying permanent, off-grid DePIN rigs all over the world. Major concerns are cooling and weatherproofing - will be testing designs for temp control & LTE signal this week. Very exciting.

It took about a month to pull this together from start to finish. 1) Building the actual system with battery and solar, taking it to 24 hour uptime.
24-hour, off-grid Bitaxe mining!!!. 1. Solar powers the router + miner. 2. Battery takes over at night. 3. Solar recharges the battery the next day. Soon we can try other DePIN devices and really start earning. But first let’s get this baby weatherproofed…

Great write up. DePIN is also being used in robotics infra, preparing physical AI to navigate the world. @AukiNetwork, @GEODNET_, @OVRtheReality, and more. @LayerDrone has hinted at this. Many will pivot.

I've wondered in the past if breakthroughs in autonomous navigation won't lead to physical AI replacing human supply in many DePIN networks. Mapping projects are an obvious candidate - why pay drivers to map sporadically when you can just slap a camera on an autonomous drone?
AI needs more sensors, not more GPUs. The biggest unlock on the horizon is making AI capable of properly interacting with the real world - which means it also has to perceive it in real time. You may not have paid attention to physical AI before Jensen of NVIDIA spelled it out.

DePIN as we know it today is simply a gestational period leading into its ultimate form: Physical AI as the primary agent of automated and decentralized infrastructure. Human retail investors are necessary to bootstrap these networks, but they will eventually be removed from.
Automation Watch! . If drones can perform mapping this efficiently, how long until physical AI replaces retail investors as supply in the DePIN world?. Mine harder and stack these tokens NOW!.
