Full Story: While there was support for it, those who testified against raising these fines say there'd be unintended consequences for other kinds of rentals. Howard County Council seemed open to discuss these concerns further later this year.

Howard County Council just unanimously passed (w/ Liz Walsh absent) a bill that significantly raises the fines for paid parties at homes. The 1st offense is $2500, which bumps up to $5000 on the 2nd and future offenses.

Democratic lawmakers of MD's congressional delegation are vowing they'll get in to see the conditions in ICE's Baltimore holding rooms soon enough. Meanwhile, DHS says they just have to schedule a tour at least one week in advance.

Families, particularly in Ellicott City, aren't too happy with the proposed redistricting for some HCPSS schools. School district staff stressed there'll be plenty more changes, and chances to give input, before a final vote comes in November.
