@vanillabrwnsugr
oh my god. yes. i have so many feelings about huskerdust's potential for toxic codependency. especially given the fact that husk has no interest in sobriety but is supportive of angel's recovery which is the biggest recipe for disaster. my heart.
@vanillabrwnsugr
Okay, I'm sure I'm about to be real sad, but for some reason, "How slutty is Daddy feeling tonight?" took me out. Also, Val looks great... Though now I'm lowkey wondering how he and Vox get dressed between the wings and bigass head, respectively.
@hopevalleys
That's not what proship means, but if you found a god honoring way to watch the John Waters-loving, Boxing Helena-referencing, SA as comedy-having Chucky franchise, I'm happy for you, I guess.
@vanillabrwnsugr
ngl, it's almost reassuring when they show their true colors. they don't actually care about survivors. no hearts and minds are being changed today. i can walk away with the vindication that this person is not worth my time.
@hopevalleys
It's one of my favorite franchises, but, my sibling in Christ, you say this to me as you rt the series, including a post about how Seed haters will not meet God? Blasphemous.
@datchidatchi
while people have been worrying over a character dying, i've been over here fretting over alastor leaving and taking niffty and husk with him for, like, the last two weeks. omfg, this hurts.
@StarBlues111
Something cannot be "A" proship. The "pro" doesn't stand for problematic. The pro prefix is positive or "for." i.e. for shipping/anti-censorship/anti-harassment. It's a term that wouldn't need to exist without antis. It's the default stance of most folks when it comes to fiction.
@hopevalleys
sorry. i went to your page to make sure you weren't a minor and then started scrolling bc the season finale has me in a chucky mood. But Bride is not shit. Say what you want about Seed, but Bride is peak, and I'll die on that hill.
@Lindquist4444
@strwblitzy
Or maybe they didn't expect anything to happen, were just shipping because shipping is fun, and can keep on enjoying fandom however bc who cares?
@psychicpains
I LOVE monstrous Alastor and expected this dynamic with Husk. but, ngl, I am a little weirded out by people saying Husk deserved it. I'd rather just enjoy me some antagonistic Alastor without justifying the heinous things he does.
@pinqbby
They are not attracted to everything. It's about disliking censorship and not harassing people who write things that make you uncomfortable. And they didn't happen to lit. It was the default until "antis" popped up in online spaces. The first term I know of was just anti-anti.
If you're a Valentino fan imploring others to not to harass you but slap "proshitters dni" in your bio, you deserve to be side-eyed, actually. Not harassed. No one deserves that, but... I don't trust you with fiction. I enjoy Val's character, but YOU make me uncomfortable.
@FireFlyJars
This is an incredibly rude reply. They were harassed and accused of racism by an English-speaking audience that was incapable of correcting them tactfully or even considering the translation process means other cultures might be watching a show that reads very differently.
@morbid_lizard
i remain obsessed with how you draw these two. this is so good. it's always so good. they're the worst. they deserve each other, and i love them.
@vanillabrwnsugr
People infantalize him SO often and reduce Husk into someone whose entire purpose is rescuing and lifting him up - I LOVE (canon) Angel, but part of fandom is working real hard to give me a kneejerk negative reaction to the character.
@SamAburime
The one that gets me is the idea that the transgressive elements are only there to highlight for the audience that these things are bad. Had more than one person tell me Clive Barker did not mean for the viewer/reader to be aroused, and I'm not even sure how to respond to that.
@4rKrot
I love this. But RE: Angst - I'm still dying for fanon (humorous or angsty) about how Valentino lost most of his left antennae. Since we see he has both in the old photo of him and Vox.
I'm so intrigued by the nothingburger that is the newest round of aroace Alastor drama I've been seeing. "Sexuality is a spectrum. You can sexualize him. But not too often! And not for the wrong reasons!" How often is too often? Unclear. What are the RIGHT reasons? Also unclear.
@MothMommyy
This is why I just don't trust anyone who slaps some form of, "proship dni" in their bio. Either your morality is scarily shaky or your sense of compassion is performative. Fiction does not impact reality on a 1:1 basis. This is just the same old Satanic Panic-type nonsense.
@hooddooo
@Morcoroni
That's proship. Or, at least, what it's supposed to mean. I have triggers and boundaries, but I count as proship bc I'm not a fan of censorship and think fiction is the perfect place for people to explore dark subject matter. I read "proship dni" as encouraging censorship.
@xHabitsss
Given that you're confused about why people you follow are liking that tweet, I think the problem here might be your misunderstanding and redefining of the term.
@demimuu_uu
This is so disgusting and gross and positively FILTHY. The waves of ick rolling off of this are just downright masterful. Your style for these two is just mwah chef's kiss. I love everything about how dirty just looking at this makes me feel. 💕
@KaylaSm93146996
my only hesitance here is the sassy/annoyed w/ blitz!stolas where he's got the white robe and impless romance novel. i feel like that would need to come at the start of apology tour or blitz screwed up so badly stolas doesn't forgive him after even this. 🤔
@xHabitsss
You are literally the one redefining it and then expressing confusion over why so many people, including artists you enjoy, are agreeing with it.
@mihkomehmew
@hexgated
Something can't be "a proship." The pro stands for "for." It's just an anti-harassment/anti-censorship stance. Doesn't mean you endorse everything problematic under the sun. That said, Bryan Fuller is proship. It's where the proship 🌈🍖emoji combo came from. Hannigram.
@johnmeowston
My therapists have always encouraged me to explore and unpack my trauma through fiction. Meanwhile, the advice you have in your bio is just for me to kill myself, so I think I'll listen to the psychiatric professionals on this, thanks.
sounds like the popular artist has returned. and is not sorry. and people are rejoicing. and the majority of folks will ignore that plagiarism wasn't the core issue and that this behavior has happened before.
i won't pretend to be surprised. this is what i assumed would happen.
@Adyophene
i love the details in your drawings so much. i love that i had to look at this in full size and take it in for a moment before i realized what husk was even distraught about down there 💀
I can't stop thinking about Overlord Husk. Praying season one tosses me at least a few more crumbs because I need so many more details. Alastor, how could you stand across this kitty cat lookin all sad in his lil suit and not hand over your winnings immediately?
@averylazygirl
I'm sorry, but feeling the need to qualify someone's right to portray dark topics by pointing out their trauma is part of the problem. Discourse like this is always going to devolve into a proship witch hunt when you default to villainizing creators that make you uncomfortable.
@Kingofmonkie
@MothMommyy
@rigorrmortis
So... what? They're asking for it? The "literal rapist" is a literal giant moth from a cartoon. Even if you think he's a one-note antagonist, goodness knows there are plenty of fans of those, too. I haven't seen people going after the HxH Hisoka cosplayers at cons.
this fandom is so weird. every week there's a new drama where someone is being harassed for a ridiculous reason. and you feel weird saying anything in their defense bc last week they were the ones doing the harassing. again and again and again. has it always been this?
I've seen a lot of posts that are like, "This blog is a safe space. It's okay to like problematic things in fiction." And then there's a big asterisk like, "Unless you ship/enjoy/are into ___."
@goshinheck
It took me two seconds to Google and find the photographer was Andrew Rezun and then find his body of work. Does the gun offset this outfit too, or...
between husk's immediate response to the addition of a stage being that he will NOT perform and episode 4 i just... rn 10% of brain's disc space is stuff i actually need to be doing, 75% is huskerdust, and 15% is overlord husk vegas stage magician.
@boca_al_lupo
yep, yep, yep. fandom has a REALLY bad habit of infantalizing angel in general. you don't resolve an arc about a lack of agency by just removing the need for agency.
@cloudi_days
@snakeswithhands
From my limited time here, this fandom DEFINITELY has a problem just letting fandom be a fun, safe space. Suicides have been a miserable constant in my life. OPs doc leaves the worst taste in my mouth for more reasons than I can list in 1 Tweet. You don't use suicide like this.
@morbid_lizard
@vanillabrwnsugr
What I think a lot of people overlook about abuse in general is that survivors often don't even have a good frame of reference for what a healthy version of their situation should look like while they're living through it. It's either skewed and/or just their life.
@mistmistly
i'm realizing my personal headcanon might be unpopular af. i imagine it was messy and underhanded getting to the top, alienating himself in the process. he regretted a lot of it when he gained popularity. hence the, "I can only blame myself." attitude toward things.
this fandom has been really bumming me out today. a fandom's popular accounts should not be cruel or signal boost cruelty. i dunno if it's just the nature of twitter or what, but it makes my heart feel heavy some days and this is one of them i guess.
@vanillabrwnsugr
I use profiction just bc ppl use proship like it's a noun or strictly sexual. A ship can't be "a proship." It's just the idea that censoring fiction is wrong. Imo, it not being nuanced is the point. I'm just extremely uncomfortable with the slippery slope of policing fiction.
@TheZmajaNa
Is there an official Hazbin deck?! I'm a total tarot nerd. In Tarot de Marseilles and Rider-Waite decks, it's usually two humanoid minions chained to the Devil's pedestal. Probably coincidental, but the imagery of Alastor w/ Niffty and Husk would be such a perfect fit.
@strwblitzy
Did she say to respect the ships or did she say to respect/not harass humans... Because they're humans... With feelings... Enjoying fiction?
Or, hear me out, no one sends death threats to anyone? No one should be harassing others over fiction just as a general rule. If you don't think people who like Valentino openly support sexual assault, it feels like a huge leap to suggest people are supporting incest.
I guess I’m just really annoyed that people are sent death threats for liking Valentino meanwhile people with 10k+ followers are openly supporting inc3st and underage nsfw garbage…
Hey Hazbin Hotel haters?? Can you PLEASE focus on those people instead??
@Laura19190444
how could you? how could you make something so cute yet so painful? 😭...I desperately wants and would probably buy one. BUT STILL. how dare?
#HazbinHotel
#HazbinHotelLilith
#HazbinHotelrosie
I'm drained and half asleep but also tired of sounding unhinged while trying to explain to people why I think Rosie is Lilith. So I'm just gonna collect my thoughts in one very sloppy 🧵
@fennecwounds
*not the abuse victim/abuser part. the mental gymnastics to justify why a ship isn't problematic part. instead of, ya know, just shipping a couple of fictional villains and being normal about it.

Gonna qrt my old vid bc I've been complaining about ppl excusing Val/always changing the subject to how Vox is also bad. Let Val be awful and love him problematically. If you gotta slap "proship dni" in the header of your voxval stan account, you do not deserve my terrible boy.
@p00say_fish
@eatingcroutons
@walpurgispinkii
@neoopiure
Proship, by definition, is just staying in your own lane and letting people enjoy fiction however they want - But how many exceptions we making for BG3 bc I also remember having a 4-some with drow twins that went hard on sexualizing incest, so...?
when i mentioned i wished fandom would stop drawing all these characters white, people QRT'ing the work of non-English speaking artists and angrily recoloring it without permission is not... Ya know... It wasn't what I was hoping for.
I always HATE when this is a controversy. There's no one reason why someone creates fanworks. There's no "missing the point." I feel like I only ever see this sentiment from readers or from popular artists who receive a lot of engagement already.
if you only create in fandom for engagement, then you’re going to have a bad time and have also missed the point of why we create fan works to begin with.
i lied to all of you 😩it'll be tomorrow. it's finished but i too eepy to trust myself proofreading.
i'll need to read over it again after i've slept. bc every time i post a fic and come back the next day to find a glaring error, i die inside.
Just realized it's been over 2 weeks since I updated Flay Me Down. Haven't abandoned it, I promise. My meeting for work was postponed, so I have the weekend to write fic. Can I finish up this chapter by Monday? ...perhaps.
@rainneyez
@stripesthis
I mean, Hellraiser did have incest and at least a couple underage characters. I didn't say it was porn; it's explicitly erotic. Most of Clive Barker's work is sexual. It's written and/or shot with the intention of being arousing as well as disturbing.
@the_dishlicker
Absolute valangel perfection. A+ Gold star. No notes. You've got their dynamic (at least as far as my own personal headcanon goes) DOWN completely, and I'm living for it.

Proship is a stance. Something can't be proship. The problem is hypocritically enjoying and supporting fiction with intentional problematic elements. People overlooking parts of the source material in order to maintain feelings of moral superiority is, in itself, problematic af.
@xHabitsss
It wasn't. It's was (and, honestly, remains.) the default attitude toward fiction. It was coined in response to the rise of "antis." You're just inventing shit. More than that, you've zeroed in on the underage media in a way that waters down the exploitation of actual children.
@vanillabrwnsugr
One of my biggest gripes rn is that even the people who agree with this sentiment put an asterisk on it. "You can explore these taboo things in fiction, but not the taboo things that disturb me, personally. We'll let you have noncon but incest makes you a danger to society."
@averylazygirl
True! But how do you reconcile this POV with "proshitters dni" in your bio/qrt'ing the dangers of fiction influencing reality? I love Val as a character, but fandom's cognitive dissonance surrounding him is one of the most frustrating bits of drama I've seen in a hot minute.
