Late breaking abstract- use of the TRiP(cast) score to predict trauma patients at risk of VTE: CASTING study @INNOVTE1 #ISTH2023

CASTING trial, stepped wedge RCT (n=2100) included patients with isolated lower limb trauma. TRIP(cast) score 👇was implemented. Low rate of VTE in patients at low risk not receiving thromboprophylaxis (0.8%, 95%CI: 0.3-1.5) and important reduction on its use #ISTH2023

Excellent presentation on the casting trial - low risk group of lower limb trauma pts well-defined and do no need #VTE proph. However risk of 2.9% in high risk pts despite #LMWH needs further improvement. #ISTH2023
