For the first time since 2019 the 18-64 age group in the US is below the seasonal epidemic threshold for pneumonia, flu, or covid. In 2023 week 13, 125 people died with covid compared to 457 in this age group dying of pneumonia without covid or flu. data: https://t.co/t9BetRYyez

Well Tuscaloosa city schools kinda blew it on the covid. Totally predictable by the way - no mask requirement. Will have one starting next week... horses... barn doors.

At long last Tuscaloosa is now below the CDC threshold for vaccinated people to wear masks and has remained so for the last 10 days.

Well it was good while it lasted. Tuscaloosa is now up over 20 new cases per day per 100k Alabama over 30. Yet another situation any sane epidemiologist would probably never have anticipated - an epidemic of a disease that has a safe, effective, and available vaccine.

Tuscaloosa's covid rate is down to 2.5 per day per 100k. Looks like the post-memorial day bump is now past.

Haven't posted covid rates in a while. Alabama and Tuscaloosa doing pretty well despite a rather pitiful 30% vaccinated.

Here is the current rate plot. UA, Tuscaloosa County, and Alabama all around 10/day/100k. First time 7-day average for Tuscaloosa County is below 10 since June 8.

Tuscaloosa county down to around 10/day/100k. Try changing time span shown since now below summer and fall rates.

J&J efficacy plot from the report to the fda, blue is vaccinated: https://t.co/wLyy1UCj2l Had 6 covid deaths in the placebo group. Study ran until 5 critical covid cases in placebo group. (were none in the vaccine group.) Seems a bit more challenging study than others.

UA rate same as last week. Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and US rates leveling off near rate from the Fall. (Could be rebound from lack of access to testing during last week's cold weather.)
