The uncompensated care crisis referenced in the mental health presentation, as well as in this one, cannot be addressed without Medicaid expansion. 15 rural hospitals are currently at risk of closure-this year- because of it. #coveralabama

Much love to our friends in South Dakota as they continue their work on expanding Medicaid on Novembers ballot. Did you know that Medicaid expansion has a 100% approval record on every ballot referendum? No state has voted against it. No state has reversed it.

SO BASICALLY ALABAMA DIDN’T EXPAND MEDICAID BUT THE PEOPLE HERE KEPT PAYING FEDERAL TAXES MEANING THAT OUR TAXPAYERS PAY FOR MEDICAID EXPANSION IN CALIFORNIA AND NEW YORK. I MEAN WE ARE PAYING TO KEEP HOSPITALS OPEN IN HAWAII BUT OURS KEEP CLOSING IN RURAL ALABAMA.

Hi, just a reminder in case folks haven’t heard… expanding Medicaid will NOT lead to proration or across the board cuts. Expanding Medicaid costs $225 million annually but SAVES about $400 million annually. #alpolitics

An important read from the editorial board @dothaneagle

Medicaid expansion would provide healthcare to 313,000 more Alabama residents, most of whom have no health coverage otherwise.

Investments in #publictransit will bring strong benefits to people across Alabama. That’s why Arise and 81 partners wrote to lawmakers today asking them to allocate $20M of #AmericanRescuePlan funds to public transportation. Our news release: https://t.co/hT5r8ZNgtF

Access to work, school, child care and medical care are just a few examples of how public transit is critical for Alabama's prosperity.

Huh. The compartments into which I usually compartmentalize world events so I can keep moving forward seem to have reached capacity.

As expected @SecBecerra has extended the public health emergency for another 90 days. The PHE expires now on July 15th. That means we will know May 15th if the PHE will extend again since the Biden Administration has promised to give 60 days notice. https://t.co/t3x51umc9m
