In 2020 @girdley, @thegeneralmills, and I started recording our chats about companies for sale and how we'd value them. We called the podcast "Acquisitions Anonymous". Today @acquanon hit #15 overall in the "Entrepreneurship" category! #16 might even say we are "crushing it"š

Tune in to hear @girdley lose his mind in excitement about truck stops.
Coming later this week. An episode on TRUCK STOPS for sale with @TannerDoss! @girdley was as excited as @BillDA was about that e-commerce lego business! (Have you subscribed on Youtube or your podcast app yet? All the cool kids are doing it so...) cc: @thegeneralmills

Any ERTC (Employee Retention Tax Credit) experts around? Iām hearing that the āpartial shutdownādefinition interpretation is much broader than initially thought with gross receipts. Would love to confirm with someone who knows more.

I trust Markās opinion on many things, and people in operating positions is definitely one of them. Hope the right company can link up with this woman or man.
FinTwit: Had a call with a friend on Friday seeking their next gig. Would make an incredible COO for your RIA. DM if interested and I'll get you connected.

Sitting in a key shop right now, and itās making me really want to own one. Phone ringing off the hook, property managers requesting emergency and after hours trips. All paper based billing and work processing. Anyone know of someone who owns/runs one?

I have a SMB dilemma. My roofing company just got named in the Top 100 Roofers (by revenue)- pretty cool, feeling good. Turns out we are number 100 on the list. Eh⦠makes me feel less inclined to hype it. Not totally sure why. Does it seem like Iām off base on this?

There is a lot to be said for the āIāll buy a business anywhere approachā. I was fortunate enough to buy a business in my backyard. 4 months in, and everyday without fail- we are talking about a lead or customer, and I know them, can call, and we can reduce friction.

Anyone want to go in together on this? Seems like a transaction could get this mess behind them and let the employees keep doing what theyāre great at. https://t.co/GLRcoEj2KP

Hiring differentiator: consistently giving 40 hours a week. Valued most by: - those making < $20-30/hour - skilled trades - men and women who have obligations and others to take care of. Not playing games with peopleās time and money has proven to be a leg up.

Learned about a fascinating business today. One I have never heard of. Cleaning indoor shooting ranges. HIGHLY regulated, and very sophisticated filtration systems to capture lead dust. Proper PPE, HEPA vacuum, special disposal. On a specified schedule.

Have a friend locally that had an operating company fail 30 years ago due to a key employee embezzling money. They settled on taking a whole life policy out on the guy, and would get made whole plus some upside when he died. Needless to say, guy is in his early 90ās now.
Here's a crazy story about one of the best deals we'll ever do, maybe, if we ever close.... 5 yrs ago we put a property u/c with one special provision, the seller didn't have to close until they found a 1031 replacement... 5 years later and they still haven't found one...

I hate this, because itās very hard to compete with. I also kind-of envy it. Iām not sure that itās the type of incentive structure (stick vs carrot) that I want to build my organization around. Itās a set of hand cuffs.

The relocation is in the form of a forgivable loan. Moving expenses, down payment assistance, and lump sum cash. If they leave in less than 3 years, they must pay back, with a penalty. Plus 401k match doesnāt vest for 3 years!
