Anthony Albanese's plan to boot kids off social media isn't just about how children use the internet. It's about how all of us use the internet.

I've been a tech conference speaker for 16 years. In 2 hours I'm giving a talk I'm very familiar with and had great feedback on. Yet the nerves are up. I'm wondering if I'm good enough. Will the demo fail? To speakers, new and established: don't let #impostersyndrome stop you!

“I don’t like this change that this platform that helped me bring people together made, so, I am making yet another platform that’s better than those who came before me, and this island will be mine!” - Every dev today. Fragmentation won’t help, a shared platform is the only way

HA. I just got carded for an @auspost package AFTER I’d already picked it up from the PO. Reason? “Unable to deliver” aka “Signature Required”[..and we don’t expect you to be home]. Sigh.

Extracted the firmware to #1 (Not hard actually, telnet in (SSH is broken) and `cp -R / /mnt/usb` (after escaping the poorly locked down shell.. YesReally), fixed the jQuery and submitted it to their tech support system. Eventually closed as the screenshot didn’t show it properly

Sometimes having a Tech background is frustrating.. “Why did I buy this device? The coding and typos in this are amazingly horrible!” “I wish this website was open-source, I’d so fix all these usability issues” “What.. it does What?! There’s no way that’s secure..” (See #1 ..&#2)

Dear Conference Organiser friends (&Conference Speakers!) how do you manage your Call For Speakers/Papers process? What tooling do you use? (Or what’s the best you’ve submitted via) Google Sheets and Forms can only scale so far, and everywhere I look there’s half-baked solutions.

That wasn't very presidential. I expected a rambling and incoherent message as well as threats to the world order.

If the way you advertise your product is “Better than X” or “More secure than X” your product probably isn’t better than X in any way..
