Worst advice: (1) Real doctors never leave clinical medicine (waste of degree!); (2) Don’t waste your time in international work (such a distraction!); (3) You’re too young to lead or to have an opinion. Thankfully, I did not listen.
Worst advice:.1. Be inaccessible, condescending & a jerk to be taken seriously as an academic (instead of smiling & being friendly). 2. Write as many papers & bring in as many grants as possible (instead of focusing on broader vision of improving public health).
